The Clear Lake Bar Story
The iconic Clear Lake Bar (The CLB) was originally built by Ed and Marie Sirmeyer in 1936. Over the years, the CLB ownership has only changed a handful of times. In June of 2019, Roscommon native Joe Murphy and Bob Theys of Pinckney, purchased the bar.
Joe graduated from nearby Roscommon High School in 1982. His wife, Michelle, has multiple family members that have owned cottages along Clear Lake since the mid 1930s. Michelle has been coming to Clear Lake her entire lifetime. Joe and Michelle have two children, a daughter, Paige and son, Riley.
Bob is a 1978 graduate of Pinckney High School and has been part of the Clear Lake community for over 24 years. About two years ago, he decided to call Clear Lake home. Bob has two children, a daughter, Shayna and son, Evan. Bob’s Life Partner, Brent, is from St. Helen, MI.
After looking at several business opportunities across Northern Michigan, Bob and Joe decided that the Clear Lake Bar was the best fit for them. An experienced staff, a loyal customer base, a close-knit community, and the love they both have for the CLB were the key reasons. Family and friends in the area also played a major role in their decision.
There is nothing like the Clear Lake Bar. It truly is a special place where friends become family. In the spirit of that tradition, Joe, Bob and the entire CLB Crew are dedicated to providing the best customer experience possible.
